Conductor

In her conducting work, Nika combines expressive musicianship, precision, and a strong instinct for musical storytelling. Her experience spans symphonic, operatic, choral, and contemporary repertoire. She made her conducting debut with the Zagreb Philharmonic in 2025 and most recently conducted a reimagined version of Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice at the Royal Academy of Music in collaboration with composer Eric Davis. In autumn 2026, she has worked as Assistant Conductor at the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka on Rossini’s Cenerentola, conducting one of the performances.

As an operatic soprano, Nika’s experience encompasses opera, concert performance, and contemporary repertoire. Initially trained as a singer in Trieste, she brings a strong understanding of the voice, Italian text, and theatricality to her work as a performer. Her operatic work includes the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, for which she graduated with highest marks, alongside solo appearances with the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra and a featured concert performance at the Croatian National Theatre in Split in 2025, celebrating Croatian operatic, musical, and folk heritage.

Working across both sides of the stage, Nika brings her experience as an operatic soprano directly into her conducting practice. Her dual perspective allows her to approach music through both the physical experience of performance and the wider architectural perspective of the conductor, and she is particularly interested in merging the two in performance. She has led and simultaneously sung Luciano Berio’s Folk Songs in Voices of Europe, and has continued to explore the intersection of voice and conducting through operatic and contemporary projects. A spring concert at the Royal Academy of Music in 2027 will showcase this aspect of her work, with Nika simultaneously conducting and singing selections from Croatian classical music heritage.
